Waxahachie, TX Continues to Focus on Retail Recruitment and Retention

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, (January 7, 2016) — The City of Waxahachie, Texas, announced that it will continue its partnership with Buxton, a consumer analytics firm, to strengthen its retail development efforts and provide visitor insights. Waxahachie has been a Buxton client since 2013.

Throughout the partnership, Buxton has identified specific retailers and restaurants that match the shopping preferences of consumers in the City’s trade area and has provided information to help local business owners grow their businesses. The information has been used to attract Academy®, T.J. Maxx®, Ulta®, and other retailers to the community. It has also been instrumental in the revitalization of Waxahachie’s historic downtown.

City leaders also use Buxton’s proprietary web-based real estate platform SCOUT to analyze retail matches and provide market intelligence to existing local businesses. SCOUT reporting features present a convincing case to retailers seeking growth opportunities.

“We are encouraged by the retail growth Waxahachie has experienced since partnering with Buxton in 2013,” said Doug Barnes, director of economic development for the City of Waxahachie. “Buxton provides the tools and knowledge needed to confidently recruit retailers that will best suit our growing community and our visitors.”

“We are thrilled to continue working with Waxahachie,” remarked Lisa Hill-McCay, vice president of Buxton’s public sector division. “We will continue to provide city leaders the information they need to expand retail offerings and better understand who is visiting the City.”

Buxton has worked with more than 700 cities nationwide to implement retail development strategies. Other client cities in Texas include Keene, North Richland Hills, Odessa, and many more.
